THE
PROCESS

Forget fast-furniture, at McVeigh Made we embrace the slow-crafted. From design sketches and timber restoration to precision joinery and metal fabrication, take a closer look at how we transform your ideas into unique pieces - all the way from the first draft to the final product.

DESIGN

At our best crafting pieces in line with a Mid Century Modern aesthetic - the design journey involves a lot of collaboration, brainstorming and sketching. We’ll bring your vision to life on paper, refining and tweaking until it's just right.

Liam combines your ideas with the finer details, making sure each piece blends perfectly with the natural beauty of the timber.

RESTORE

Each piece of reclaimed timber undergoes a rigorous process of de-nailing, wire brushing, metal detection, edge-planing, and thicknessing to ensure uniformity. Only after this process is complete can the timber be deemed ‘Furniture Grade.’

We also believe the beauty in reclaimed materials is found in imperfections, so it’s important that we keep blemishes in tact and embrace and incorporate the quirks we discover along the way. It’s not just good as new, it’s better!

MAKE

Heavily favouring traditional joinery rather than fasteners like screws and brackets, each piece will allow for flexibility and movement, ensuring the timber will not split or buckle when conditions change.

Prioritising designs that appear light and dynamic, each joint is then intensively reinforced and strength is provided where it matters most.

YOURS

We hand-finish each creation with a unique blend of natural oils and waxes, protecting the reclaimed timber and ensuring it holds up for the long haul.

More than just furniture, your finished piece becomes a living testament to sustainable design and meticulous craftsmanship. It's an heirloom in the making, ready to become a cherished part of your story for generations to come.
